Flip Flops Family Wreathe: Really Crafty Link Party

Thank you to Keeping It Real for the opportunity to participate in the Really Crafty Link Party #72 with my Flip Flops Family Wreathe. This was so fun and easy to make!

Supplies needed:

  • 3 pairs of cheap flip flops (I chose one pair for each member of our family; these were 98 cents each at Walmart)
  • flower embellishments ($1 bin at Michaels)
  • white wooden letter for your last name (Michaels)
  • ribbon
  • hot glue

Directions:

  1. glue all flowers to shoes and letter
  2. glue shoes together along the edges that touch
  3. glue letter to middle pair
  4. glue ribbon to back of middle pair
  5. reinforce ribbon with electrical or packing tape
  6. hang and enjoy!
  7. Hint: if you have a peep hole, try to measure the ribbon so that you can still see through some part of the wreathe

Or buy one from Oh BaBee! Originals. I would love to make one for you.

More from Waldmania PR:

“From her roots as a theater major and performer in the hip clubs of New York City, Joanie Leeds has proved herself as a major talent in the field of children’s music.”

— Parents’ Choice® Gold Award review of Joanie Leeds’ Good Egg

“THE BEST KIDS’ ALBUMS NOW!  Leeds and her band bring big fun on their new release.  Don’t attempt a family road trip without this minivan-friendly winner.”
— People magazine

NEW YORK — Six years ago, award-winning singer/songwriter Joanie Leeds packed her bags and moved from Manhattan’s Upper West Side to the vibrant, artistic neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Here she found not only a place to start a family, but also a magnificent melting pot metropolis that offered dazzling adventures on a daily basis.  Inspired by her love for all things Brooklyn, Joanie will release her eighth family album, Brooklyn Baby!, on May 19.

Produced by Jesse Lauter (Tedeschi Trucks Band, Elvis Perkins, Carl Broemel from My Morning Jacket), Brooklyn Baby! is a real genre-bender, containing elements of folk, Southern rock, hip hop, pop and punk presided over by a singer whose sheer command of vocal artistry is second to none.

Songs about the park system (“Ferry Nice”), public transportation (“Subway”) and Brooklyn’s most famous dish (“Pizza”) are a given, but the heart of the album embraces both a Brooklyn mentality and sentimentality with love (“Love is Love”), thirst for education (“Library Book”), healthy eating (“Apples in My Apples”), and Yiddish expressions (“Shayne Punim”). The album closes with Joanie’s take on Brooklyn-born Lou Reed’s gentle tune, “Sunday Morning.”

Gifted with a soulful, “rock solid” voice that ranges from low and bluesy to high, light, and breezy, Joanie Leeds is an exceptionally versatile artist who brings serious musicianship to the table right alongside a terrific sense of fun and fashion.  Says SiriusXM’s Kids Place Livehost Mindy Thomas, “Joanie Leeds is that cool babysitter who would let you try on her lip gloss once your mom left the house.  You idolized her, and your mom knew she could trust her.  That’s Joanie.  Only she’s also likely to completely ROCK THE ROOF OFF YOUR HOUSE!”

Joanie Leeds & The Nightlights have performed in dozens of cities nationwide at such prominent venues as The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, The Smithsonian, the CMAs, the Hang Out Festival, Symphony Space, Wolf Trap, and LA’s Skirball Center.

Joanie Leeds’ original kids’ music won first place in the USA Songwriting Competition, as well as winning an Independent Music Award, Parents’ Choice® Gold Award, NAPPA Gold Award, and Family Choice Award, and Joanie was a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the International Songwriting Competition.  Joanie’s music has been highly praised in People magazine, Parents Magazine, The New York Times and The Washington Post.  Her tunes are played on many radio stations nationwide and have climbed the chart to #1 on SiriusXM’s Kids Place Live and WXPN’s Kids Corner. Joanie is also a PJ Library musician!

Prior to Brooklyn Baby!, Joanie Leeds released seven critically acclaimed, full-length albums and two full-length DVDs, in addition to numerous videos on her Youtube channel.  She is currently at work on more music videos, while maintaining a busy teaching and performance schedule.

Brooklyn Baby! will be available online at www.joanieleeds.com, Amazon, iTunes, CDBaby, TuneCore, and other related digital outlets.

Sweet, touching, and full of love, Heidi is a story of a little girl with a big spirit who overcomes the narrow minded attitudes of a few adults in her young life. Her smile never fades even through the darkest of times and always shows that kindness, laughter, and love will prevail.

Throughout the film, you are treated to the stunning countrysides and mountains of Germany and Switzerland. But it is through Heidi’s eyes and heart that we discover how her life is far more rich living in her grandfather’s primitive Alps cabin than it could ever be in the mansion of the governess.
Watch here as Heidi meets the governess, Miss Rottenmeier.

“An international box office smash, filmed on location in the Swiss Alps,
this Dove Foundation “Family Approved” live-action feature based on one of the best-selling children’s novels of all time, makes its U.S. debut on DVD and Digital April 4, 2017.
DVD AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT WALMART

With more than 50 million copies in print, Swiss author Johanna Spyri’s beloved 1880’s novel, “Heidi,” is one of the all-time classics of children’s literature, which has also spawned numerous adaptations – from a 1937 Shirley Temple vehicle and several Japanese anime series to a Hanna-Barbera feature.  This April, Omnibus Entertainment invites families everywhere to head for the hills with HEIDI, a new, lavishly produced adaptation starring Bruno Ganz and marking the big screen debut of Anuk Steffen as the titular Swiss mountain girl.

Orphan girl Heidi spends the happiest days of her childhood with her eccentric grandfather, Alpöhi (Ganz), cut off from the outside world in a simple cabin in the breathtaking Swiss mountains. Together with her friend Peter, she tends to grandfather’s goats and enjoys freedom in the mountains to the fullest.  But these carefree times come to an abrupt end when Heidi is whisked to Frankfurt by her Aunt Dete.  The idea is for her to stay with the wealthy Sesemann family and be a playmate for his wheelchair-bound daughter Klara, under the supervision of the strict nanny, Fräulein Rottenmeier.  Although the two girls soon become close friends and Klara’s grandmother awakes a passion for books in Heidi while teaching her to read and write, young Heidi‘s longing for her beloved mountains and her grandfather grows ever stronger.

Spyri originally published “Heidi” as a two-volume novel – “Heidi: Her Years of Wandering and Learning” and “Heidi: How She Used What She Learned” – and, according to the original subtitle, was written “for children and those who love children.”  Aside from being translated from the original German into over 50 different languages, HEIDI has also become an enduring figure in children’s entertainment through many theater productions; television programs, including one by the BBC and one by Walt Disney; films, including a silent one; a musical play co-written by Neil Simon; a video piece with Paul McCartney and Mike Kelley, and a talking dog version with Angela Lansbury.  There is even a “Heidiland” in eastern Switzerland.

Called “handsomely crafted” (Edmund Lee, South China Morning Post), this most recent adaptation, an international box office smash that has played at top children’s film festivals across the U.S., also captured the award for “Best Children’s Film” at last year’s German Film Awards.  Omnibus Entertainment’s DVD features both the original German language version with English subtitles, as well as a dubbed version.

HEIDI (111 minutes) Directed by Alain Gsponer. Starring Bruno Ganz, Anuk Steffen, Isabelle Ottman, Quirin Agrippi, Katharina Schuettler, Hannelore Hoger, Maxim Mehmet, Peter Lohmeyer, Anna Schinz, Jella Haasse.
An Omnibus Entertainment release, distributed by Film Movement.”

A wonderfully woven tale of friendship, discovery and a journey towards motherhood. A great read for all but particularly if you find yourself at a crossroad of spirituality, growth and the human experience. Libby allows us in as she discovers the spiritual connections around her.

I loved this book! It’s a quick read but packed with marvelous observations about friendship, becoming a mother and learning about life. Makes me want to try yoga.

Wow! Libby M. Blumberg’s, In So Many Words—a medley of life changing conversations, was nothing but inspirational. The conversations and stories that Libby shares, with her audience, are truly eye opening and encourage you to think of your own life’s journey. This original piece of literature, allows the reader to spiritually and emotionally analyze their own personal feelings by making connections and reassuring yourself that there is a bright and positive side to situations in our lives. In So Many Words, is uplifting, inspiring, and provides a sense of hope. Libby M. Blumberg, not only shares her honest life stories, but most importantly how she overcame uncertainties in her life through spiritual awareness, yoga, and her lifelong friendships-which is genuinely admirable. I personally cannot wait to read, She Waited for Me, Libby’s next book.

In So Many Words: a medley of life changing conversations is truly a worth while read. Libby M. Blumberg tells her story as closely to having a conversation face to face as a reader can get. It is refreshing and inspiring and full of feeling. This book, without a doubt, is so applicable to so very many. I am confident that readers from all walks of life can find something to relate to, some meaning to take away or have an “I really needed to hear” that moment during the course of this well written, down to earth book! Happy reading!

Rarely do you find a book that speaks to your soul as a mother, a woman, and a seeker of self-awareness. “In So Many Words” is a honest reflection of life from the perspective of another mother and woman who asks the eternal question, “Why?” I found this book easy and enjoyable to read. Honestly, it flowed much like a conversation with an old friend.

Thank you for being so courageous and willing to share your journey with us. It was amazing to read her passion for life through the good times and bad. I’m interested to read the next book!

Libby’s story is one of courage, deep faith and trust in the value of human relationships. She has a gift for introspection, acceptance and an open heart. She inspires the reader to take that “leap of faith” with confidence and trust. I look forward to reading Libby’s second book, “She Waited For Me”.

Thank you Libby for sharing your heart with us. I love how as a young woman that were open to learning from women that were older. It is my belief that we are all here to share our wisdom and love with one another unconditionally. Your story is heart warming and I look forward to your next book.

Show Some Love to Book One

Show some love to book one with me, as I mentally prepare to begin book two on March 1st. In So Many Words is my baby, will always be my virgin step into ‘author-dom’ and has had exactly the response I hoped for.

So, here, with five days until my fingers hit the keyboard for another deep, introspective, and frankly, a bit scary ride, thank you to book one, the people who read it, and the impact it has had on friends, family, and complete strangers.

show some loveshow some loveshow some love

The task ahead is daunting, but so exciting. Book one churned up quite the array of emotions. Book two has the potential to take me back to places which will make me stop in my tracks and feel a pit in my stomach. But the purpose behind sharing these things will far outweigh the fear.

Reading In So Many Words is not a necessary prerequisite to reading She Waited for Me when it comes out later this year, but it would be helpful. You can purchase it on this website under my Author tab above or on Amazon. If you read it, I would greatly appreciate a review on Amazon and/or this site.

Always connect.

Namaste.
